Sarah Turns 6 Months Old!

Our little Sarah Grace turns 6 months old today! For her Half-Birthday Treat, she got to have an entire Stage 1 tub of bananas and some pineapple juice. Now she just needs to sprout some teeth and she'll be ready for college. 

Andrew's Valentine Card

A couple of days ago, I was glancing through Andrew's bag of Valentines cards from his classmates--Ok, ok! I admit it. I was digging frantically in hopes that I had missed a piece of "good" candy during my intitial pilfer last Friday. No luck. Only suckers and a fruit roll-up--(what's up with THAT kid's parents? Just kidding, fruit-roll-up parents).

Anyway, I noticed that I was the only parent who had gone to all the trouble to make home-made valentines cards. I suspect that I have been labeled the "show-off mommy" of the class. You know who I'm talking about; every class has one. And it gets worse: the card is supposed to tie-in with February's theme: Pets. How obsequious!

You have to admit, the cards are pretty cute. The eyes are googly-woogly eyes and bounce around when you move the card. The tongue is actually the wrapper of a Kit-Kat that is taped on the back of the card. (By the way, Kit-Kats qualify as "good" candy). So, I thought I would live up to my reputation and post a picture of the card on the internet.

You think the cards are cute, wait until you see the little mice I'm making for snack next week--they're made of strawberries and are served with a small wedge of cheese . . .

The Cootie Factor

When Sue Ann bought the new Radio Flyer Odyssey, she did so with great expectations for easier transport to and from the park.  She had a plan: "I can configure the seats like a flatbed, lay Sarah down in it, and still have enough room for Andrew to sit at one end when he wants to be chauffeured home from the park." Perfect!

But she didn't plan for the Cootie Factor. Sarah is actually quite long, so Andrew might actually have to endure continued contact with her feet during the ride home--he refuses to sit in the wagon. (Sigh).  In fact, the first time he rode in the wagon, her blanket flopped over on him causing a swift and decisive blanket expulsion.

But, now that Sarah can sit up fairly well, this new configuration of seats works great. Flipping the back seat over results in a nice, deep well for Sarah's bottom and plenty of support for her back and sides. Furthermore, the flipped seat serves as a nifty little desk for Andrew's toys--and his Cootie Force Field. Voila!

Mommy's Science Project

We've had this sweet potato around the house for . . . I'm not sure how long . . but it's begun to sprout. Sue Ann showed it to Andrew yesterday and he immediately grabbed it and ran off. As he ran, Sue Ann heard him saying, "tree, tree, tree. climb it, climb it."

He played with it all morning until she finally had to put it in the trash.

Unanticipated Findings: Offspring found subject immensely pleasurable. Subject is good candidate for Christmas wish list.
