I knew iPhones were cool, but I was not prepared to be seduced. The iPhone is a customized version of the universe that fits snugly in the palm of my hand. It is a magic portal to whatever I need, whenever and wherever I need it (except for that stretch of desert between Van Horn and Midland-Odessa).
I have become obsessed with two apps: Lifecards and Facebook. Lifecards is an app that allows me to create digital postcards using the pictures I have on the iPhone. I love this app because I can share pictures of the kids in "real time" without too much hassle. Plus, the portability of the iPhone as camera allows me to get some interesting shots when I don't have The Beast with me. Camera, Our Kids, Photo Collages, Instant Upload: What a Perfect App!
The Facebook app is a much bigger threat to our family blog. With the facebook app, I can jump on facebook anytime and immediately see what my friends are doing, comment on their pictures, chat, upload my own pictures, and let them know what I'm doing at that very moment.
The upside is that it's easy to stay in touch with friends (and I like to think that people really care about the banalities of my stay-at-home-mom activities). The downside, though, is that all those little quips and comments leave me tapped out. When I sit down to blog, I feel as if I have nothing else to say. On the occasion when I do have a funny story rolling around in my head, I can't seem to gather it up into something coherent.
So, even as my iPhone obsession rages on, it feels good to blog. I miss writing complete sentences--free of abbreviations, acronyms, and wordgits like "4ever" and "2 bad." But, even as I sit here and blog, I would like to hurry up and finish this post so I can get on facebook and update my status. I'm Addicted!
