Who knew Toy Story was such a nail-biter?!

Sarah Rolls Over

Sarah rolled over today. She's done it a coupleof times before, but I've never been able to catch it on camera. Well, so much for forced tummy-time!

Strawberry Mice

Today, I took the previously bragged-about strawberry mice to Andrew's class for snack (See "Andrew's Valentine Cards"). I think they went over OK. I think the kids liked the cheese wedges better than the fruit. I made the mice yesterday and by the time I took them to school this morning, the licorice tails were all bloated and falling out (nice.). I don't think I'll make them again, but it was fun to try them once. FYI for my fellow show-off moms: I got the idea from familyfun.go.com.

When I was making them, I couldn't decide which I should do first: create the faces or insert the tails. After much deliberation about the practicalities of face vs tail, I concluded that I should do the face first. After the first couple of mice, however, I realized that I had to do tails first; Once I created the face, the stawberry was transformed into a mouse. Once it was a mouse, I just couldn't bring myself to poke a hole in it's back-side, squirt it full of pink goo (gel icing) and cram a piece of red lace licorice up in there. It just seemed inhumane. So, tails first. Then faces. Good thing I never harbored dreams of being a proctologist!

The Great Communicator

Andrew just told me that he has poo-poo in his diaper. He doesn't want me to change his diaper. He just wants me to know that it's poopy.

Plop, Plop. Fizz, Fizz.

Uuuaaahhhhgh. I lost my mind today. Lost it. And now I'm paying for it. I was just--just--I was just so hungry! I haven't been that hungry in years! And it descended upon me and it was that hunger that is so swift and fierce that your primal instincts respond with a panic that screams, "I must eat, NOW!" (No, I'm not pregnant).  So, I had to get me some Taco Bell right then and there. Luckily, the kids were in daycare.

Don't ask me why, of all the places I could have eaten, I had to make a run for the border. But, The Bell summoned and I obliged.

And now I am in a state of gastrointestinal uproar. I don't eat at The Bell often, but every time I do, I find myself reaching for those little blue foil-packets of redemption.  Oh yes, I love Alka-Seltzer. For one thing, it mitigates the consequences of poor judgement.  Secondly, and this is perhaps most important, when you've had some impromptu Taco Bell, you don't want to be hearing "plop, plop" unless it's followed by "fizz, fizz."

Obsequious and other such words

It seems that my use the word "obsequious" in the blog "Andrew's Valentine Card" has been exposed as an attempt to flaunt my (questionably) extensive lexicon.  In other words, I'm showing off. That same thought had occurred to me while I was composing that particular blog, but since I was writing a blog about my status as the "show-off mommy" of Andrew's class, such an egregious display of show-off-ery seemed apropos (ooops! there I go again . . . )
