Throwing Boogers
If you come to my house, you might not want to sit on the couch:
Sarah: Look a booger!
Dave: stop picking your nose, Sarah.
Me: Sarah, do you need a tissue?
Sarah: No, I just throw it.
Dave and Me: (as her arm is making the arc of a pitcher's throw) Nooooooooo!

TV in the bathroom
More evidence supporting the link between the Y chromosome and the sudden, irresistible notion that a TV in the bathroom is an awesome idea:
Andrew: Mom! You should put a TV on the wall in the bathroom so me and Sarah can watch it while we're in the bathtub!
Me: Have you been watching MTV Cribs?
Andrew: (blank stare) Nnnno.
Me: Where did you hear about TVs in the bathroom?
Andrew: Nowhere. I just thought it up. Isn't it a cool idea?

Don't Go To Target
Note: Do not go to Target if you can answer yes to these questions: Have you skipped breakfast and lunch? Y. Have you had a glass of wine while pretend-shopping at a high end clothing store? Y. Are you emotionally volatile because your life feels disorganized? Y. Do you have a plastic bin fetish? Y. Do you have a sock monkey fetish? Y. So, $300 later, I have a passel of plastic bins with no immediate purpose and a small collection of sock monkeys that, for an unknown reason, require batteries. But, I must say, I do feel exhilarated by the potential for organization and by cute, battery-powered sock monkeys.

Cleaning Out Toys
Cleaning out toys. Getting ready for the Christmas/Birthday onslaught of colorful, noise-making things. I wonder whether it would be easier or harder to sort toys after a couple of glasses of wine. I would either get belligerent and throw out everything or I'd get super sentimental and keep it all. Sounds like a worthwhile experiment. But, for it to be scientifically sound, I'd have to do it lots of times. Just once or twice and my "n" would be too small and no one would take my results seriously. This experiment will be tough, but I'll feel better knowing it's for the greater good.

Where's the book.
Andrew and I went to the school book fair yesterday and I bought him a Marvel superhero drawing book. When we got home, I decided to hide it and hope he forgot about it. Then it could be a Christmas gift . . . Nope. All of yesterday afternoon and evening, he asked where I had hidden the book. But I held strong and did not divulge the details of my mission. So this morning, I woke him up gently, he rolled over and groggily said, "Mom. Where did you put my superhero book?" (Sigh. You gotta be kiddin' me!) "Mom, mommies and daddies everywhere tell their kids where they put stuff." Really? "Yes, they always say yes to what their kids say. Where's the book?" OMG. I think his next move is to jam bamboo under my fingernails. Or maybe Chinese water torture.
